the
slope of the former berry field now shows the sculptures at their best
|
The former fields of the mansion were abandoned in the sixties of the
twentieth century.
The orchard had diminished to a handful of apple trees; the fields soon filled up with mainly birch trees. These were removed to
accommodate the geothermic heating
system
for the house and studios. Thus the field regained its
open character again.
The bronze and steel sculptures had
been on a long term loan to the Finnish
city of Kajaani, since the sculptor had an exhibition there in the
Art Museum of Kajaani (Kajaanin taidemuseo) in 1995. In the
exhibition more than one hundred sculptures, drawings, prints and
photographs by the artist were shown, it was titled
in retrospect.
