a satellite view of a sculpture installed on
the Minervaplein in AmsterdamMay 28th 1986Princess Juliana, accompanied by her husband Prince Bernhard, unveiled the monument to Professor Dirk Durrer who had died two years earlier. For the work professor Durrer did for cardiology, he was called the godfather of cardiology. When I first heard of the possibility to submit my documentation towards being given the opportunity to make a proposal, I felt an affinity between some of the aspects of my work and the graphic images of cardiograms and isochrones for instance. This to me seemed a much better approach than another bronze bust of the man who wouldn't have felt honored by such a sculpture of himself.
