public art - public sculpture, more specifically
Land art and site specific sculpture - land art uses the environment and its scale as its material. Concrete art is expressed in material itself with which the artist introduces her non-representational objective. Public art can be viewed and accessed by observers.

public sculpture

In many cities the sculptor has realized PUBLIC ART projects with existing sculptures as well as site-specific works.

Public art is the term which applies to the fact that a work of art is located in the public domain. It is not a certain type of art as site-specific art is; site specific sculpture, as in the case with den Arend's sculpture, is art which has been designed specifically for a certain location. His first commissioned public art work was a garden which required a site specific approach. Site-specific art (sculpture) is part of a site - an environment - which is either a new or an existing site. Public sculpture can also be an existing sculpture which is chosen because it is most suited for a public space.

In his public art the sculptor uses the qualities of a specific site and adds to them a complement in the form of art.
