a photo report by Anna Pool
opening the East West Forum (Oost West Forum) symposium by Queen
Beatrix
The old, possibly to be redesigned, Victoria Factory in Dordrecht,
the Netherlands, was part of the setting for the Japanese/Dutch
sculpture symposium.

The E.M.F. (Electrische Motorenfabriek, Electric Motor Factory)
had been demolished. This part of the Victoria candy and cookie
factory had been left standing, as architects were studying
the possibility of reconstructing the old building and making
apartments, offices and shops.
The opened facade of the factory offered the twelve Japanese
and Dutch artists space to work and have meetings inside - with
a perfect view of the site for which they were to propose their
project(s).
Here the Queen (Beatrix) inspects the building and the exhibition,
of the work of the artists, which had been installed there.

Anna Pool was one of the photographers commissioned to document
the symposium. Before she died, she gave me a series of her
diapositives to use for any future documentation of the East
West Forum. These web pages seemed most appropriate for this
purpose - thank you Anna.
