Work during the East West Forum - the illusion of civilization (een illusie van civilisatie)

Like I mentioned on the a sculptors symposium in Holland page, the idea to organize a symposium where sculptors would work together on a mutual project was alright , and selecting Japanese sculptors who have had experience in working with colleagues in other symposium situations, was a good start, if not a prerogative. It should have been possible to do the same for the Dutch participants - or maybe not. I'll explain: 

Six Japanese sculptors at work at the East West Forum (Oost West Forum) by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands.

After two weeks of meetings, making plans and deliberating, the six Japanese sculptors went to work and together they produced a piece of land art into which the six Dutch artists would incorporate their individual contributions.

As the results of the symposium eventually turned out, it was a good experience for all the sculptors to discover that there are different ways of going about making art. The Japanese participants were experienced in working together. One for all, all for one is also a characteristic of teamwork in Japanese culture. The Dutch ....
